Urban Combat & WTKA GB

WTKA GB is the national governing body responsible for WTKA competition in the UK, including selecting and preparing Team GB athletes for events such as the WTKA Unified World Championships and the WTKA British Open Championship.

Urban Combat is the WTKA GB South Centre of Excellence. Its Chief Instructor, Peter Owen (4th Dan), serves as Head of WTKA GB South — jointly with Richard Vince — and as WTKA GB South Fighting Coach.

Team GB selection sessions have been held at Urban Combat's Ipswich venue, and Urban Combat athletes compete for Team GB under WTKA GB — including the club's 2025 World Championship and British Open medallists.

It can, but it isn't required. Students who want to pursue competition can progress through Urban Combat's programme toward WTKA GB selection. Many students train purely for fitness, confidence and self-defence skills without ever competing.
